“See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc; no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.” - Isaiah 54:16-17 NIV

"No weapon forged against you will prevail." This sounds like a war cry of confidence in the face of opposition, A confident assurance of the victory we have in Christ Jesus. However, just because we fight from a place of victory, does not mean we are excused from the battle itself. Notice in this passage, it doesn't say you won't be attacked, It doesn't say there will be no weapons forged against you. The passage actually states the opposite. That warfare is real and you must ready yourself for everyday battles. In these battles we face in our life, the enemy leaves no stone unturned. The enemy will do anything he can to get you to question your calling and challenge your identity in Christ. If he went after our Savior in the desert, he is certainly going to come after us. He may have power but we have AUTHORITY. The battle will come and there will be weapons forged against you. However, you can rest in the promise of God, that NO weapon will prevail against you because of the authority that lives inside of you. Sometimes the weapons forged against you, will eventually strike you. But God, our father is for you, and He will take you to a place that is far greater and outweighs the immediate pain of the initial strike. I love how the prophet Isaiah uses the imagery of a blacksmith who "fans coals into flames" and "forges a weapon fit for its work." This illustration is an incredible image of how our God is always preparing us. At times there will be an increased heat in our circumstances and pressure associated with this process but we can rest assured knowing there is significant purpose in the process and God's promise remains unchanged! What I love about heat, is it makes us malleable and moldable, transforming us into something greater that only our Creator can see. Supplement this with pressure and you have a perfect combination contributing to a remarkable transformation. Pressure always points us to something. Pressure points us to a greater purpose. Pressure ultimately points us to the power source. If we are to become battle tested, we at times must face the fire and stand in the pressure, knowing that we are becoming a better, polished, sharper weapon in this battle to advance the Kingdom. Like a blacksmith who forges a weapon and readies it for a purpose, so does our Father in Heaven who in the significance of our circumstances is readying us for a bigger battle in the advancement of life in a dark decaying world. Thanks so much for reading! Much love, T & K
